MANILA – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. designated Deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas Dante Vargas as acting Ombudsman, Malacañang confirmed on Wednesday.
"Confirmed," was Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro's reply in a text message to reporters.
Marcos names acting Ombudsman
Vargas was appointed to the Office of the Ombudsman by former president Rodrigo Duterte in March 2022.
He will take over special prosecutor Mariflor Punzalan-Castillo who has been sitting as officer-in-charge of the anti-graft court since late July after Samuel Martires completed his mandated seven-year term., This news data comes from:http://771bg.com
Vargas shall oversee affairs at the agency until Marcos names a permanent Ombudsman.
